I've been told that a 290 flexplate is neutral. That is, you would remove
the weight
completely. I once put a 390 flexplate on a 290. Removing the weight
completely
from the 390 flex worked in that case.

Subject: [AMC-list] Does anyone have the V8 engine balance offset weights?
I know there is a standard for each size V8. Since I am putting my '69 Rebel
290 motor in my '68 Travelall with the Nailhead TH400 from my '73 J4000, I
need to match the 304 flexplate to the 290 (the 304 crank adapter fits my
290 with it's own pilot bushing that looks like the BW auto one) I know
where to take the weight off, but not how much. The Borg Warner flexplate I
have may be from the 290 or from the later 258 I had from a Postal Jeep. Any
help?
