Yeah, I agree. If it's running tolerably well (like Mark says, 
shortening peoples lives, OK, just not killing them within eyesight if 
your car :-) leave the plugs.
Chances are, the plugs will clean off automagically when you burn off 
all the oil etc. If they're firing, well, that's all they do anyways.
My only concern is the wild cylinder to cylinder variation. If they are 
ALL oily, or ALL sooty, or ALL dry, ... that's better, it's not some 
leaky headgasket or valve stem or whatever. Stuff that comes in the 
intake manifold (gas+air, oil from a leak, etc) tends to spread to all 
cylinders more or less, like too much oil in the gas tank.
