[Amc-list] 327 Jeep and Swapmeet yesterday (was drag racing a 62	classic custom 2 door...)

A: Someone back east wanted me to ship the Jeep 327 (with TH400) to him, but
instead we are going to put it into an '81 Wagoneer my buddy has, The 258 in
his rig keeps running like crapola (even with 2100, HEI and a cleaned out
fuel tank, it will just stop running or start clanking like it has a rod
knock) It doesn't have to emission test anymore and we have the mounts from
the Jeep to put in already. We're going to use the unipattern (Buick
nailhead) TH400 that's in my '73 J4000 with a Ford or Jeep NP208 (the Ford
one would probably be better for clearances and strength as it is offset
more to the driver's side for the front output and it will take a custom
output shaft on the trans either way) It's going to have to wait a bit
though as Brian is waiting to go to Alaska or Hawaii on a job (he maintains
helicopters) and the trans is still in use in my '73 J4000.
He lucked out and found this nearly rustfree beast for a reasonable price
a couple months back. Yesterday, we went to the swapmeet in Puyallup (got 4
stock turbine wheels with OK tires for cheap for his Jeep and a set of 5
33/9.50/15 BFG TAs for mine plus some J truck literature). I saw some pretty
amazing stuff! A dual carb setup by Ellis for an International Green Diamond
motor (170?) that I got a pic of (and his number should anyone be
interested) Found a good running F head for a friend of mine (it was
converted to 12 volt already) and I spotted something that made me do a
double take. Apparently there WAS a BOP (can't miss that U top!) trans to
AMC motor adapter ring! It was already sold ($50 with the TH400 trans and
D20 tcase!) but it got me thinking that if I could get one of those, and an
early dual pattern 700R4 (used behind the diesels. I saw the pic of one at a
trans shop in the "identifying GM trans" poster), then an overdrive for my
Jeep could be much easier to set up!

I'd probably try it with a gen I engine too.
Mostly because I"ve got so manyof them laying around!
Right now I have 3 327's and a 287!
The new storage building will be built so I'm able to get the
spares inside it and out of my garage!!!....
