Still working on the AMX. This time dash lights
were the problem.Some didn't work Change the bulbs and sockets with new
ones nothing !! Now none
worked. I pulled the cluster and in the process pulled off the 11 (or 12) pin
connector. I had juice into the cluster and had no lights even when bypassing
the ground. Then we cleaned the printed circuit board where the sockets go in.
Still nothing. Then I checked the bulb in the sockets to see what was going
on..Still nothing. The I checked the bulbs and they they worked. Then I
took a GOOD look at the
sockets.....they were touching ground to hot when the bulbs were out. I believe
that when the bulbs were inserted that there was no contact to the bulbs leads.
The morale of the story is that "just because it's new doesn't mean it's good".
A mantra especially relevant now that so much is manufactured in China (=
junk).
Thanks for the help from so many of you. We
actually drove the car last week and it had brakes
