Same here. It's not working and has become a nuisance. It's too
invasive a service for a mailing list.

There are real solutions to spam. I see no more than 5 a day. Spam
isn't an issue for me at all, or anyone who uses a real ISP. We
use spamassassin on our mail server. I think Earthlink does too.
You can ask potential ISPs what they use.

You want a quality article, you gotta pay. Luckily it's not much.

This 'white list' method was a nice idea, but it's an evolutionary
dead end.
