Victory! Finally! The 4 cyl AMC motor isn't back in the '84 Cherokee yet,
(the pouring down weather and my re-adjusted, reactivated intestinal tract
had different ideas of how I was to spend the early part of my day) but I
did convert the internal slave bellhousing to work with my original external
slave cylinder (with minimal effort other than brain energy) I had to buy a
clutch fork ball stud (NAPA help rack # 615-1425 ) and cut the threaded part
off (keeping as much of the shaft as possible) and reemed the hole where the
pivot ball was in mine to 7/16" (I had JB welded the one that fell out of
mine back in place before realizing I didn't have the right bellhousing to
convert to Renix TBI and I didn't have a good internal slave cylinder)
Next, I will JBweld this pivot in place (the hole should have been 11 mm
but beggars can't be chosers at this time and JB will keep it in place) and
I checked the arm, etc for depth. (within a 1/4" in height) so it's a go!
Looked to me like the same conversion would work on the Peugeot BA 10/5
bellhousing, but I don't know if the arm is the correct width. I'm using the
trans from the external slave as well, so I don't know if there is an issue
with the input bearing retainer on the internal type other than the roll pin
that keeps the internal in position.
I took pictures as well, once I figure where to post them (maybe my
photobucket.com account) I'll let those who are interested know.
