Not so, Tom. If you have a 71 or earlier AMC and want 
a 72+ TorqueCommand tranny behind it, contact any of 
the big AMC vendors for an adapter kit. A minor 
machining of the end of the crank (done in-car) and
addition of a bushing and everything lines right up.
If so inclined, it's like a $30 item, if I recall 
Correctly, and the boneyards have plenty of old 
Concords and Spirits from which to get the tranny.
