Some tachs have a trimpot that adjusts the tach; there may be
enoguh range to the adjustment to accomodate 6 vs. 8. It might
even be that there's only one tach, and they're adjusted one or
the other at the factory.


Look for a hole in the back of the tach with tape over it.
