Steve,
I don't think the ballast resiistor is suppossed to be used with an MSD
box. The thing is suppossed to have peak voltage available.
Get a set of instructions for a MSD 6 and you will see that a DIODE is
called for to stop the run on problem. Or, you can simply snip the wire
feeding your Dash light for ALT. and you will stop hsaving run on.
The light comes on, this back feeds the MSD and the car runs just like
the key was in it and it was running. Add a Diode as MSD says, or snip
the wire and you can toss the ballast resistor.
In case you did not know, there is a book available thru MSD with every
wire diagram for all their products. This is a great book to have if you
are messing with Hi.Po cars and MSDs. It covers every type distributor
hook up as well.
