Just thought I would share that I recieved a set of the new MSD gears to
test with. MSD plans to market sets in the near future. Well, one is
available now. Let me explain.
MSD is working to develop a matching Cam/Distributor gear set in
Iron/Steel, and they also have already developed [ready for sale] a
Bronze distributor gear.
The new prototype Iron gears look great. Everything looks to be correct.
I have not yet measured anything. I do have a set of these going into a
fresh rebuild in the next couple of weeks. There is also a possibility
of a set going on a 450 H.P. 401 on the dyno.
In other news about the same type of gears, Crown automotive is also in
progress of testing newly designed gears. A.J. of South Texas AMC was
aproached just before Cordova about these but could not help in testing
right then. I have spoken with Crown about this and they tell me they
are indeed testing gears from another manufacturer.
I would like to thank MSD for giving me a shot at looking these parts
over and welcome the honor of testing them. I will post the findings.
MSD is hoping to provide these gears to the public in about 2 months if
no problems arise during testing. Please do not jump on MSD about buying
the parts, they are not available for sale as of now. Well, with the
exception of the Bronze unit. Sorry, I cannot supply a price as the
Bronze gears just came in with the prototype parts and there was no invoice.
Regards,
Ramble on,
Randy Guynn
