I have used JB weld with good success. Also, an epoxy marine patch material called Marine Tex works well. It is a two part epoxy filler that can be sanded and painted. It is impervious to gas and oil. The secret---make sure the surfaces are good and clean. Brake cleaner works well and leaves no residue.
