Joe,

Obviously the tail lights weren't masked from the factory but that may be 
your only option.  I masked the lights on my 73 then cut the tape using 
several very sharp exacto blades.  The results were excellent.  Maybe not 
PERFECT but a whole lot better than "pretty good".

Come to think of it I'm not sure there is anything perfect on a Javelin. 
Don't get me wrong, I love my car but when I  bought it from the original 
owner I thought it had been repainted.  Turns out it was just a sloppy job 
at the factory.
