[AMC-list] Fat Vinyl Roof

OK, So I have this 81 Concord DL 2door. Hate the heavy padded Landau top. What happens if I peel the whole thing off and just put a regular full vinyl top on it? Has anyone done this? What happens to the rear side glass. Planning on a complete paint anyway. Thanks for any imput.
