If there is not a one piece seal being made then the cuts are pretty standard.
There is a urethane (hi-tech) caulking made to work with rubber gaskets in automotive applications.

I've got a rear window in for 14 years with no leakage.
It even looks like the rubber once set. be careful and mask off everything you don't want it on!
