Re: [AMC-list] How many AMC's were built in total 1954-1987?

I think (but don't know) they built over a million total from '54-78.  I HOPE there were more.  While customers would have abused them, possibly, they COULD have become the "American BMW", with all alloy DOHC engines, 4s, 6s, & V-8s.  The 4s & 6s they'd have to have slanted, but that never stopped Chrysler.  They also should NOT have sold the V-6 tooling back to Buick, (but leased it to GM), but developed (through their engineers, street-racing under different identities/ separate small corporations) a DOHC turbo V-6 alloy block & heads, one-upping GM.   A turbo-DOHC-V-6 Gremlin?   YES!   The mpg would have been similar and the performance--AWESOME!    Like BMW, AMC could have gone with Turbo-4s, and Turbo-6s, in all lines.  Jeep was the "plum" other companies wanted when AMC was being bought & sold.   Once Jeep was obtained, the cars designs were ignored and allowed to die.  After Matador sales dropped due to the (wonderful, to ME, not
as "wind-cheating-looking" in the front),  "frog-like" front, the front should have been done to look like the last versions of the Cunninghams, which were contemporary with the Ferraris. The last Cunninghams also looked similar to an Aston Martin front, with swoopy covered headlights.   If not those, an AMX III-"like" front would have sold a LOT...of Matadors--tens of thousands.  Once whoever then owned AMC had a car, "cash-cow", the cars would have survived.  A factory turbo would have sold a LOT more Eagles, too, because they were often loved, but Everybody wanted more power,--an un-assisted 6 was simply not enough.  I think all of the car corporations had people at Decision-levels of power, that were "working" for the other sides.  An Asian @ Oldsmobile might have been "turned" by Toyota.  A Caucasian @ AMC might have been "turned" by Ford.  Or the Globalists might have been "in play", just as they were to "take-down" the British
motorcycle industry,--once the largest exporters of motorcycles over the now Major Japanese motorcycle makes.   The Globalists turned-off development monies, so the Brit-bikes had to soldier-on with increasingly older models/technology.   The Executive Suite destroyed British motorcycles, with lies provided by the Globalists, WHILE Japan was funding Zaibatsus of the Japanese brands to penetrate world markets with Jap-bikes...and cars...and TVs...and what have you.

Subject: [AMC-list] How many AMC's were built in total 1954-1987?

I know AMC wasn't a brand until about 1958 or so, But it was a Manufacturer since 1954. So weather they were called Hudson, Nash, Rambler, Eagle, Jeep, or AM General I'd love to know how many were built in total.

Is there anyway to figure/find out?
