Here's an article that talks about on the Nutter bypass that talks about 
what to do with the carb.  The way I read it, they're recommending putting 
the needle valves in the full rich position, then reinstalling the stepper 
motor to hold them in place.  Seems like this would work with whatever 
position you select.
