Hi- I can fully understand your frustration with restoring any car and not
being able to make ends meet or to show a profit after detailing a car the
way you would like it to be even for yourself. You sound like you love what
you are doing and keep that in focus. In this restoration business; we
are at the mercy of how the economy is doing. That is why there are some good
days and bad days. Some time we make wrong decisions that cost us more
that we planned for. I know I have and I think that you might give your idea
of bringing in an older person to see how things work out.
I am saying all this because I have personally done 50+ years in the
auto business because I like machinery and being able to take basket cases
and making them useful and appreciated again. It is not only a matter of
pride but it speaks for itself. I owned FORD MAN's MUSTANGS and AUTO out of
Houston,TX. before I was totally flooded out by Allison with 38" of rain in 24
hours. My home and business are now a huge flood/park retention pond.
Nothing exists to even show our area.It took 10 years before pond became a
reality. Slow politics.
Hang in there and keep your dream alive. I now live in Wi. and restore
one car at a time at weather's pace. I still have several FORDS and am now
the owner of 3 AMC Eagles plus extra parts that I am learning how to
restore and drive since classic muscle cars are getting so trashy and way too
pricey. I really miss the old days where I had 60/100 cars to sell GC parts
off of and made lots more money with good quality used parts verse selling
new NOS or repro parts. Everyone wants to sell direct to buyer and give very
little discount to hard working owner who restores their cars. Then you
have to rely on finding a car cheap enough to buy and restore.
You are facing a different economy situation that our HA HA president
has gotten away with forcing hard working Americans to pay for those who
think they are entitled to more freebies that you and every tax paying citizen
works for.The really sad part is that these people get their ways while we
get nothing but more taxes or less benefits. The real reality is that WE
THE PEOPLE must speak up ,stand up and pray up to keep socialism out of
AMERICA and put GOD back into our nation. If those who don't want to learn
English or obey our laws ; then they need to go back to their country and live
their own way.
Enough said. I just had to get that off my chest. It's too heavy to
handle on my own. Above all consider your options and bring in new ideas and
try them. You might be surprised at the results Take care and may GOD bless
you and your families as HE has mine. GOD BLESS _FORDMANTED@xxxxxxxx
