AMC left open the interpretation of SST: "Super Sport Touring or Super Sonic Transport or just SST?" appears in the 1968 AMC brochures printed in summer of 1967. The "SST" was top of line offering from AMC on Ambassador, Hornet, Javelin, & Rebel. "SST" was last used in 1972. The SST emblems for Hornet are on a small chevron, while SST on Ambassador like my 72 are three individual letters and fancy script it is hard to read them. The earlier SST emblems were block letter font on small rectangle.
