Engines need four things to run 1)Air 2)Fuel 3)Spark 4)Timing. Points should be OK enough if you are getting spark. If the engine cranks with the starter then the solenoid is OK. Is it possible that you have got a new problem, such as a stretched timing chain that skipped and now the valve timing is completely off? I drove my Javelin 45 miles at 70MPH. Stopped in the driveway and then no start because the timing chain skipped. If you are getting spark at the plugs, you may have to pull a valve cover and verify the position of the valves when the crank is at TDC for #1. Valves need to be closed. -----Original Message----- From: amc-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:amc-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of tbmccall Sent: Tuesday, December 18, 2012 8:01 PM To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [AMC-list] Matador wont start I had a bad alternator and the alternator light wouldnt shut off. I returned it and installed another new one. The car started and ran like crap then died. Now it wont start. I swapped my my javelin solenoid and still nothing. I am getting spark at the distributor. I put fuel in the carb. It has a new voltage regulator and coil. The only ghing left is the points and im guessing thats the issue. Any other suggestions?
