I remember reading something about this... maybe in James Mays' book, "Rambler Canada"?? That boook is a GREAT read, by the way, and covers a lot of AMC history that would otherwise have been forgotten, but it's HARD to find anything specific -- no index! It's a collection of stories about different people and sometimes places that made Rambler Canada from the 40s through the 80s. Quite interesting... But I digress!! The Holmes Foundry was old and a big polluter. Would have cost millions to clean it up to then current standards. AMC didn't have it -- they probably did well to distance themselves from that liability at the time. I don't think the foundry was ever FULLY owned by AMC -- I don't think they ever had a majority share (but may have been the biggest single stock holder at some point). That will take some research... -------------------- Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2012 19:17:16 -0500 From: "Eddie Stakes"<eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Tom MCkenna wrote: "Holmes Foundry was owned by American Motors, by the way......and AMC would not invest in it to increase production."
