 Not sure where the alternator reference came from? I am from England, New England! 
As for why Bricklin switched to ford power there are many ideas as to why. Some say ford engines didn't have to comply with the New emissions standards as soon as AMC did? Or maybe your story is true and Bricklin already had the body parts instock before AMC pulled their engines? 
I did know about the gremlin parts used in the Bricklin. I need to get some spare controll arms to refurbish and install poly bushings. I bet the new controll freaks suspension would fit the Bricklin! Then it would really be more like a super car!
