Hey everyone, I'm a little confused about something which I'm sure one or more of you all can answer! I need a new ignition coil for my 68 AMX/390 and I'm using the stock points distributor. Here's the thing. I remember years ago that I had an ignition problem which was diagnosed to be as a result of not having a ballast resistor before the coil. I always thought that the resistor ignition wire in the wiring harness acted as a ballast and alleviated the need to add an additional ballast resistor before the coil. I have installed a reproduction wiring harness and do not know if there is a resistance wire going to the coil. I suppose I could measure the resistance to see. If so what kind of resistance should I expect? Most of the coils I have found for AMC applications have text written on them indicating an external resistor required. So my question is, what type of coil and set-up do I use? Thanks to all who my reply to my question. John -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
