First year for the Spirit was 1979, and it was offered in two body styles: 1) The Gremlin-ish "Sedan" (some AMC fen also call it the "Kammback"); and 2) the fastback "Liftback".

The Spirit Sedan used the same door assembly as the Gremlin.

If I'm remembering right, there were three door families in the 2-door styles.  Here is the door interchange:

Family 1:       Hornet 2-door sedan, Concord 2-door sedan, Eagle 2-door sedan
Family 2:       Gremlin, Spirit Sedan, Eagle Kammback
Family 3:       Hornet Hatchback, Concord Hatchback, Spirit Liftback, Eagle SX/4

But the difference between all of them was the weld at the back of the window frame, and that was it.  Cut the weld and re-weld as needed to make it a universal part.  The max diff was like 1" between the tallest door and the shortest.

As Andrew said, 70-72 doors did not have the side impact beams, so they are considerably lighter.

But now that I'm thinking about it, I'm wondering if the Hornet/Concord hatchback & Gremlin/Spirit Liftback doors were all the same...

Age... it ain't pretty.
