  AMC or not,  in the northlands the official first sign of winter was that you
 took your air cleaner off and tossed in the trunk. then made sure you had a
 supply of combs to stick in the choke... 

my parents saved everything, so fortunately when i was ready to de-hotrod
still had my rocker panels, exhaust manifolds and wheels, but no air cleaner,
 drat!  don't know whatever happened to that.

I've had the white 70 Javelin since March of 1972. It still has the original 
air cleaner bowl and lid, it even has the original "stove pipe".
If you ever owned a 1970 Javelin or AMX with ram air, that particular air 
cleaner is worth approximately $500 to $1000 on the restoration market.
Currently I'm working on convertng an air cleaner from another vehicle to 
look as close as possible to the 70 ram air version.
Don't know about you, but I wish I had about a dozen of those 70 ram air 
versions right now.......
And actually they work very well as designed. Maybe they don't look as cool 
back in the day as say an Edelbrock all chrome one, but there are those 
peopel who
think that type chrome air cleaner is kinda cheesey, and incorrect air 
cleaners drop the value of some cars.
just my two cents worth.

Both my sons would love to have the white Javelin,
