I don't think I'd say "Chrysler hates AMC". I do agree with you that they recognize early 88 and earlier models as AMC products and not Chrysler, but I think that's a good thing. Chrysler Corporation maintains many collectible AMCs in their corporate sponsored (but independent of the corporation, as I understand it) museum. A lot of AMC documents are stored there as well, though I understand they have never been fully cataloged, just stored. Cataloging them will take a long time, and a knowledgeable AMC person. The current Chrysler Corporation has little to do even with their own heritage vehicles. There are a few organizations that do that have ties with the company, but not real strong ones. The other auto companies are the same way. Only a few have active interest and participation in historical restorations and such -- Mercedes being the most notable, maybe followed by BMW. Even AMC had only a passing interest in enthusiasts when they were around, and only that due to the effort of one man, Public Relations Department head John Conde. He recognized that the old Nash/Hudson/AMC enthusiasts and company history were important to the company in the long run. Most execs in ALL companies only passingly give a nod to enthusiasts, and only because they see them as potential customers. They could care less if you have and old Chrysler (Ford/Chevy/Toyota/etc.) or not, they're more concerned that you might be interested in buying a new one every few years! You have to admit, many who own old cars wouldn't have a new one of the same make. --------------- Date: Fri, 6 Jul 2012 19:14:42 +0000 From:amcngmc@xxxxxxxxx There were 1988 model year AMCs even CryCo lists AMC as '54-'88 model years . . .
