There might be something else wrong with the 64 suspension -- check it out real good first. Look at the control arm bushings for one thing. Order new coil springs from www.coilsprings.com. Ask for the HD springs for your car/engine. The high spring design is very roll resistant and as far as handling is concerned responds VERY well to heavier springs -- better than a bigger sway bar. coilsprings.com only makes progressive rate springs calculated to equal the old "straight rate" springs. Progressives are softer at low speeds and firm up at higher speeds -- or I should say soft at low compression and firm as they are compressed. So at low speeds ride is about the same as a standard spring but gets firmer as the spring is compressed (like when the car leans). The result is a good ride and better handling. I wouldn't use anything else!! ------------- Date: Fri, 11 May 2012 13:28:21 -0700 From: "Thomas Garner"<Tgarner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> I'm sure it's lower than it was when I first parked it. I went and looked at my 63 and it's sitting higher than my 64. I was unable to find the coil springs new, so I put in some spacers for now. That seemed to help. I was thinking about taking the one's off the 63 and using them, but as they obviously used, I'm not certain they would last very long. Anybody know where I can get a new set? Is there a way to refresh old ones? -- Frank Swygert Editor - American Motors Cars Magazine www.amc-mag.com _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
