The "hinge" on the floor is not a hinge. It's a couple of small tubes that fit
in the depressions pedal. The pedal is retained by a stiff wire clip which
fastens into the end of the tubes on each side of the rear of the pedal. You
seem to have lost the clip or it rusted away. You can replicate that part (the
clip) with stiff wire or perhaps the AMC vendors might stock it. I might have
one or two extra at home if you can't find something to fit.

Subject: [AMC-list] 1964 Classic gas pedal installation
Would anyone know a good way to put a gas pedal in a ‘64 Classic? I have two
pedals, but no means of installing them. The hinge on the floor is still in
good shape, but there are parts on the pedals that have rusted away. Any ideas
on a fix?
