I bet the answer you think you know is YES -- keep the Ford spec stuff. I know an early 5.0L pattern/input length should bolt right up to your existing bell housing. Otherwise spend the $$ on the new bell too. If you're thinking you might want that deeper bell for whatever reason now would be the time to switch. Otherwise you'll have to buy a new input shaft and bearing retainer to switch bells later. The good thing is you can use the Ford length input now and swap it out later if you want to swap bells. But Jeep bells should still be easy enough to find for a six later. ------------- Date: Sat, 10 Mar 2012 17:57:05 -0500 From: Jim Boone<fljab@xxxxxxxxxxx> I think I know the answer but wanted to ask the collective wisdom! My '69 Rambler that has the '70 390 - I currently am running a SVO T5 behind a Jeep multipattern bell. I want to upgrade to a TKO 500 or 600 - can I just buy the Ford pattern and input shaft length and it should bolt in? I know the aftermarket bells are for Cheby length and pattern - and I may want to go that way from both a strength standpoint and I'd like to put the T5 behind a 258 eventually (but that's another discussion). Keeping it to the Ford pattern sure makes for better interchangability. I'd think even the clutch would fit, yes? -- Frank Swygert Editor - American Motors Cars Magazine www.amc-mag.com _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
