Re: [AMC-list] rust repair

For cars with the moldings set into the window gaskets, you have to remove the gasket from the car before you can remove the moldings. It sounds like your gasket is shot so the best way to get everything out is to remove any of the trim from around the window in the inside and cut the gasket. Once the gasket is cut, the windshield will come out easily.

so, i got the fenders off the car, and got some other stripping done. i guess it wont be NEAR as bad as i thought. the floor boards on both left/right front floors. then the upper cowel area on both sides. my windsheild gasket is cracked horribly. the windsheild has a few cracks coming off of the one vertical crack. im SCARED to try to remove it. i have the trim in the molding. HOW do i remove it? i have tried to pry it out, but im on the edge of bending it. there is a guy in portland, or. for ramblers only, or something like that is the name of his buisness. i think it was him who has the windsheild/rear window molding for $100. does anyone know if its the correct molding to accept the trim back in? id like to re-install the trim. frank s. said that even with the crack, if very careful, windshield can be removed and reinstalled. im kinda scared to. if i do, i want to make sure i can put my molding back on. tomorrow, the car will get the front seats
removed, and the carpet removed. pressure washed to blast away any loose rust/under coating, and dirt ect. ill get pics then of exactly what im looking at doing.
