[AMC-list] Rare AMC V8 Valve Covers

Hello everyone, did anyone of you see the valve covers listed on eBay a few days ago for $1000

The guy originally claimed they were rare Group 7 items and when I told him group 7 were shifter parts, and group 19 was performance goodies, he changed it to group 19. I then told him there was no such group 19 item listed in the AMC catalogue and that they look very much like the Aerolite ones.

Here is his last message to me:

"Hello John: Thanks for your input re: these valve covers. I can say, unequivocally, that these are not the Aerolite items sold by Tony Zamisch. I know Tony before he decided to reproduce them. There is a difference between what he offers and the originals in that the lettering on his is italicized i.e. slanted slightly to the right whereas the originals have straight up and down block style lettering. He made that change to avoid conflict regarding exact AMC duplication. He has an original set from which he patterned his product with the aforementioned change. If you note the pictures in his ad, they are all purposely, I think, shot from an angle so you can't readily note that the lettering is slanted and if you've never seen an original set you wouldn't know the difference. His product certainly fills a need other than the Edelbrock and Offenhauser items but, as I said in my ad, I have only seen one other original set in 25 years of car shows besides his and mine. Mine may 
 not be worth my asking price but that's what I paid for them so they'll go back on the shelf unless I put them on another car. They, apparently, were not offered as an accessory (Grp. 19 etc.) but were put on the few original H.O. engines. So don't be misled".

Anyone have some feedback on this?
