This is sort of an answer to the post on the AMC list about Foam in rocker panels. I agree that that would be a bad idea. things would rust out very fast, because moisture would stay in there. I do the inside of mine. AFTER pulling out the plugs in the front and rear, and spraying them out very well, several times to get any accumulated dirt. then if you take the carpeting out, drill a couple one inch holes from the flat part inside (many times there will already be some rusted there). and use 3M interior panel rustproofing. This stuff is $18.00 a can or more, but is very good, and will stay sticky. 3 or 4 coats and let it drip out of all the drains and pinch welds too. clean out the drains, and do not let them get clogged. I only use this stuff after the humidity has been low for several days, and will usually dry things with an old hair dryer first. ALSO!! while you have the seats and carpet out of ANY of the Hornet/Concord/Gremlin/Spirit /Eagle bodys.. yo u need to clean out and rustproof where the folded box channel under the floor is, and especially where it ends.. Just where the rear seat bolts are. It WILL rust out from the inside here, and you end up with water in the back seat floor after it does. I still drive these cars every day here in Charleston, SC. But I do keep them away from the salt. When I lived in Cincinnati. I always had a winter driver to use in the salt.. Not something I expected to last forever... So many bolts and parts to have to keep coated with oil so they might not rust in the salt. I hated to have an AMC out in that. after they started to get older... But, it is FUN to take an Eagle out in the snow.. Have a great AMC day, Jeff -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
