i'd seen Mecum auctions on TV and thought it'd be fun to attend one if they ever got close so i made plans to go when they had their first visit to the Dallas convention center this weekend. Dallas is a couple hundred miles from where i live so drove up in the morn and got there about noon and i gotta say walking in to the display area was close to a religious experience. the patter of the auctioneer going on in the back, the lights bright, plenty of folks roaming around and holy hot rods, a couple of hundred classic cars all shinier than the day they were made. though there were many makes, models & years AMC was represented by a lone black '73 AMX. i sure was interested in what it would go for. the bidding for a '69 L78 Vette was quite exciting as each $5K bid was upped by another to a final $565,000. when i saw the AMX was up next, i thought that half a million is a tough act to follow however the AMX had plenty of interest and sold for $54,000. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
