Re: [AMC-list] early 232 using 258 intake??

I have a nice Z24 with 5 speed from an '84 Datsun 720 (written off twice by hit and run drivers) that I considered putting into my latest MJ for a moment, but then I remembered my AMC V8s, 727,etc.
To top it off, the knocking noise they thought was a con rod may have only been the starter hanging by one loose bolt! ;)
It has a '93 4.0L in it with the Renix intake/exhaust grafted on. It made no noise while hand cranking today! I'll check it further next week. We 1/2 stripped out the '83 J10 I'm taking to Canada for my eldest son. (front clip, doors, rad) Next will be the 4.2L and AW4 with NP208 I converted it to from the broken T5 and then the axles once it's on my trailer frame.

Still driving my 63 American. Engine and trans are fine, runs great. If this
driveline dies prematurely, and i continue this path, it will get a "modern"
(sic) 4 banger and manual trans. Still think the a KA24 transplant is the
way to go (by the time i get around to THAT, it will be ancient too! aargh)
minus 300 lbs and plus 50 hp and the little thing will SCREAM. And probably
get 30 mpg. and maybe road-trip worthy then. Not confident enough in this
ancient iron to take a 1000 mile trip in it.

yes, 300 lbs less. amazing.
