Must be the cost of lead in these things, from what I hear or the cost of transport? Though we have to recycle the old batteries so you'd think that should not have an effect, they are getting the lead for nothing. Any way I found the best deal on auto batteries at COSCO wholesale club. Recent consumer reports articles had some good info on various make batteries as well as good pricing and places to get them. Good luck on the 62, Joe. Regards to marc as well. Still working on my 79 V8 pacer limited coupe, amongst other projects, so little time. FYI- Next years AMO national meet will be in the Boston area. (My local amc club and I are making arrangements to have my red 74 Javelin be there. ) CTAMO.com for more info. Man, batteries are expensive now.?? thought so too until I went to a **local** battery shop: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=battery+express+22801&hl=en&ll=38.431253,-78.883642&spn=0.000632,0.001635&sll=38.431749,-78.882265&sspn=0.002635,0.006539&gl=us&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=38.431339,-78.883578&panoid=LsVcnPXq4GXUE8g_dirLgg&cbp=12,292.37,,0,13.29 found that their prices were like what I remember all the chains charging just few years ago. I needed a battery recently for a 1980 Ford Fiesta I picked up, nd their group 42 was about $60 when everyone else -- Advance, Autozone, al-Mart, NAPA, and others were all above $100. I don't know why but all of the chains have jacked battery prices towards $100 ach and more. Maybe it's a function of the fact that they all get a lot of arranty returns on batteries because the counter people don't know how to igure out if a battery is just discharged or is actually bad. Those testers ost of them use don't really tell you anything. I'm certain they replace under arranty a lot more than they need to. On the othe rhand it could just be that our federal reserve notes are becoming ore and more worthless. ;-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
