Michael,

Looking on Rock Auto, the 10" brakes are listed for a 78 AMX.  The shoe 
width given is 10 x 1.75.  I'm pretty sure the 10" brakes were offered as a 
heavy-duty option on the small cars.  I put a rear axle from a 79 Spirit on 
my 83 Spirit, and it had 10" brakes.  I would tell the parts store you need 
10 x 1.75 shoes, then compare them to the old ones to make sure.
