It's not that hard. Andrew covered about everything. You can swap a Hornet et. al. front crossmember in and be done, or you can make perches for the 232 mounts using 3"x4" rectangular tubing (what I did). Easy enough to find a Concord or Spirit in the Pull-A-Parts in Atlanta though. Atlanta South has a 75 Hornet and 70 Gremlin, none of the others have any though. Wiring differences will be trivial, if any. The 232 is pretty much laid out like the 196 was. The starter will work. Just the head pipe right off the manifold is different. I'd try finding an Eagle with a 2V and get that intake and exhaust manifold (1981 or later, or from a Jeep). No Eagles or big Jeeps with the six in Atlanta though -- at least not right now. The stock carb and manifolds will be fine for now. --------------- Date: Sun, 10 Jul 2011 18:35:15 -0400 From: Bruce Griffis<bruce.griffis@xxxxxxxxx> And to be clear on the '65 American swap 195.6 for a 1968 232, I would need to go for a water pump from a CJ5. Reverse the brackets on the radiator to give clearance. Would I need to swap motor mounts? Cross-member? Would my starter motor work? Would I be able to bolt it right up to my T96? Would my driveshaft work, or would I need to shorten it? I'd need to swap out the exhaust manifold, but no major work at the exhaust pipe, right? How much "extra" is involved in popping a 232 into a '65 American? -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://www.amc-mag.com (free download available!) _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
