Around here the machine work would be 400.00. The best cover is made by Indy. While expensive its the best and you'll never buy another. The ones that are plated are not plated to fix a worn out cover. ________________________________ From: Francis Swygert <farna@xxxxxxx> To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Mon, June 13, 2011 5:53:32 AM Subject: Re: [AMC-list] V8 timing chain used cover found The sleeved covers work, but it's nothing that the average person can do at home. The cover must be sent to someone with the machine facilities to do it. The sleeves are stainless steel. I don't know about the expansion coefficient, but a lot were done that way when new covers weren't available. Cost would be about the same as a new cover. Get a cover from www.bulltear.com. You can find them a little cheaper, but Bulltear has a jig to check them for proper distributor/oil pump alignment. If that is off (and it sometimes is!) you'll have pr Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
