Bruce, you gotta think outside the box. How about a nice big hood scoop? Then if you have a hood scoop, how about some big drag slicks in the back? Sorry it didn't work out for you. I'm glad you tried it though before I tried to put that Holley/Weber (from a Ford Cortina) on my 65 American. My son got the adapter mounted, put on the Weber. It was simple! A breeze! We started checking throttle linkages, then he noticed something a little odd and got eyeball level with the front fender. Guessing time? You can just about close the hood with the carb and adapter installed - but you sure can't put an air cleaner on top of the carb if you do! Does the '64 and '65 American have a lower hood than the '61 - '63? It sure was tight under there, and looked like we wouldn't be closing the hood when we put the air cleaner on top. Not sure if the 232 is the same deck height? But the 196OHV in a '65 American is a real tight fit for the Jeep kit. Not sure if we'll look for a powerpack option, or just try to tune the one barrel as best we can. But we're scratching the Weber. _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
