based on what I've seen for 304 flywheels, there would NOT be a square
weight "boss" on the engine side of the flywheel.
The flywheel most likely will need to be rebalanced to the particular engine
it's intended to be mated to.
Not sure what you're asking about the one side smooth, but the surface that
the disc mates too should be a single flat plain. The engine side of the
flywheel will not be flat.

identify a 290 flywheel with no numbers on it. Can anyone help out here?

Would the 290 flywheel have a square weight on the flywheel like the 390
and 360,or does it just have
holes drilled in it to balance? Also is one side smooth other than the
clutch surface?
I think I found one, but want to be sure.
