I have a class 3 hitch installed on my 65 American. I run the 232, slightly modified, and the tiny air cooled tranny that has been acting up for 5 years. The rear end is a Jeep posi, about 3.50, air bags to assist the HD shocks when needed. I have 72 Ambo SW drum brakes on it (all four corners), sub frame connectors and poly bushings throughout. I tow all the time with it. I take it to swap meets with a trailor loaded with stuff. I have on occasion pulled a trailor and car home with it. I have no problem going and stopping with that 323/BW, but the car has been tossed around some what when towing a heavy load. I am most comfortable with the car towing a trailor loaded with stuff and not so much with the heavier loads. I guess in listening to people there are so many variables in figuring what is safe and what is not. By all means get some good brakes. If you go to a towing specialist, such as U-Haul, be careful who you talk to. Most of these places will hire just a warm body to fill in sometimes, especially during the summer.
