Re: [AMC-list] HMX back on the road!

As far as specs for alignment, Andrew is right on -- you want about 6° of caster for radials. The softer sidewalls need more caster to track straight. I can only get 3° on my 63 Classic, which is about all you can get from any trunnion suspension, and the steering is touchy. It was with a power steering box too, it's not the rack and pinion setup I have now (from an early 90s T-bird, and some fabbed parts). I believe my rack has some wear in it though, and that will improve the touchiness when I finally break down and replace it. Camber can take another degree or two, but should be good at factory spec, as should all other settings. Factory spec for caster on the trunnion fronts is ZERO degrees.
