With the long winter up here finally over (*crosses fingers, knocks on wood*), and with a couple other projects out of the way, I finally made it back out to the garage this past weekend to tighten a few nuts, reinstall the exhaust system and plop a fresh battery in Project HMX. First twist of the key and the stroked 4.0L started right up like I had just run it last week. Backed it out of the garage and figured, with the sun shining, I needed to take it for a spin around the neighborhood, which turned into a spin around town. With the rebuilt rear suspension, it finally sits level (it was looking like a taildragger before with tired rear springs and newly rebuilt front suspension), and after a couple spins around the block, the 4.0L finally rubbed the sleep out of its eyes and woke up. I still have some minor squeaks and rattles to address, but it ran without a hiccup. Looks like hell - parts from at least four different cars make up the body, and half of it's still in primer - but paint can wait. I'm gonna drive the wheels off it this summer. First things first, though, it needs a front-end alignment. Does everybody with a 1979 AMX running radials just go with the stock alignment specs? dan _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
