Hey Armand

No problem -

It was a really great Aussie guy who hooked me up with my '67 though - talk
about small world!

We don't see many over here, although AMC did have offices and a single
showroom over here, back in the day. Actually, so did GM, so my other car
(aside from the 68 SST and a 67 SST parts car), is a 56 Chevy, which has
also been here all its life.

There are hardly any AMCs left here - I would guess 20?

They put the steering wheel on "our" side too, which means I don't have the
collapsable column (again apologies if my terminology's a little off) - we
got the old models' solid steering column.

Funniest of all is that there is a guy not five miles away with an Orange
'73 (I think) Javelin - although his has the steering wheel on the "proper"
side. I think the Javelins were sold here officially but not Right Hand
Drive. I am sure I remember seeing one regularly as a Kid.

There is a really odd kind of snobbery over here about having an American
Car with Right Hand Drive - a lot of people who own American classics don't
think the RHD ones are "proper" even though it's much more practical to have
the steering the right way round for the side we actually drive on. This
means that they are the poor relation - add that to the fact that people
will pay thousands for a B body Mopar (similar looks but I perfer the AMC!)
and almost nothing for a Rebel - go figure!

As for parts - they are pretty much unobtainable - except tyres and
batteries, and even these aren't easy. We can't go to a local NAPA or
wherever for service items, but I can get pretty much everything I need from
the USA - I have to say I love the helpful service from US parts suppliers.
I dread picking up the phone or visting any of our local suppliers because
everything is just too much trouble for them - getting friendly service from
the USA is a massive plus.

I can do "generic" stuff like making brake and fuel pipes myself, and I'm
handy with electrics which is good - Amber turn signals are compulsory for
any post '65 vehicle here so the wiring's a bit different. Curiously,
though, amber front parking lights aren't allowed - they have to be white.
My car also has a hilarious one wire Alternator mod using a Lucas 15ACR
which barely fits (not my work).

Thanks again guys for all the great help - this really is a great list.
