belated thought: the amc20 axle has the same housing end pattern as
many ford axles, including the 'big bearing' 9" and similar more
modern 8.8".  the same pattern was carried over to the amc20, dana 44,
and '80s dana 35 axles used on jeeps, and ford rear disks - usually
ltd or crown vic, but also mustang - are a common swap onto early
cherokees and wranglers, brackets and rotors and all.  traditionally
ford cars and even small trucks like the ranger and explorer have the
same 5x4.5" bolt circ as amc.  trivia: the explorer used the same rear
calipers as the liberty [new cherokee over there] and wrangler.
