I am installing the rebuilt distributor in my 65 American, but first thought I would install the new coil I got with the unit. My old coil was a resistor coil and provided about 6 volts to the points when the ignition was in "run". The new coil is not a resistor coil and provides a full 14 volts to the points all the time. I guess I'll save the old coil to use with the points distributor if I ever need to use that distributor again. It sure pays to check. Why would they send that type of coil for an old AMC six? If you install the Pertronix correctly you can wire around the resistance.
