Ok, as if I didn't have enough irons in the fire with my Gremlin and 65 Rambler, I have a 64 Classic taking up the prine space in the garage. I need to fix it and get it driveable to use or sell. I need to inspect the clutch and try to see what a previous owner did to screw up the shift linkage. So the torque tube needs to come out. I have it all disconnected and have been trying to pull the tube and differential to the rear with the car on jackstands. It has budged about 1/2 inch or less at the front flange but is stuck. So I plan to nail or screw a 2x4 crossbrace on the garage wall and use my ratchet tied down straps fastened low to the garage wall to pull the tube further back. I've disconnected torque tubes in the junkyard and they sure seem easier to disconnect that this one. I put the wheels back on the car just in case it falls off the jackstands. If anyone has done this and has tips, I'm all ears for another few minutes until I get back to it.
