See these sites: http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_catalog/ring_and_pinions/ring_and_pinion_installation_instructions.html http://www.richmondgear.com/01instructions.html I've had people tell me they set the gears up by nothing but the tooth pattern chart. They start a little high on the shim thickness (or don't crush the collar much) then check pattern and adjust until it's right. Takes longer, but no special tools needed. ------------- Date: Mon, 14 Feb 2011 07:42:30 -0600 From: "Armand Eshleman"<aje1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Oh yeah almost forgot, I could really use some more hints and tips about putting the thing back together. I've been reading the TSM, but of course I have none of the special tools they show. Can anyone help with advice on setting the pinion to the correct spot and installing the differential to the correct mesh, and getting axles in the correct spot? Also rebuilding a Twin grip to install, got any tips for disassembly/reassembly without the AMC special tools? -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://www.amc-mag.com (free download available!) _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
