The car has a 195.6 engine. It has a rope seal.
Joe Fulton
As has been pointed out, it is a 2 part seal. (NOT an actual "rope" seal
though) and should seep almost nothing when it is fresh and operating properly.
Be sure and find a brass drift if you are going to do this as it will allow you
to bump the seal upper half without damaging the crank... if you nick the crank
even slightly where the sealsurface of the rear main rides you will NEVER be
able to keep a seal from leaking... so DON't use a screwdriver or steel
punch.
