I think that's only on the 87-89 258s. I'm pretty sure the earlier ones with serp belt have the same length crank nose, but I might be wrong. I know some 85-86 Eagles have a serp belt. Those have the outer ring opposite the 4.0L ring. There is about a ~1/4" flat beside the pulley groves. That flat is toward the engine on the 85-86 258, AWAY from the engine on the 4.0L -- the belt sits ~1/4" closer to the engine on the 4.0L. I'm not sure about the 87-89 258 used in Jeeps and Eagles. I know for sure those have the shorter snout, not sure if the flat on the balancer is earlier 258 or 4.0L style. Would affect the water pump too (sapce between belt and pump -- 4.0L pump is thinner than 258).
