As long as you're talking about 199/232/258/4.0L engines the balancers should
interchange. The only caveat I know of is that the 4.0L and 87-89 258 crank
snout is ~0.33" shorter than an earlier crank. Either the earlier crank needs to
be shortened or a spacer used to push the balancer back further. I'm using a
4.0L balancer on a 74 258 crank... or rather was. 10 years and 60K miles with no
problems.
